Meet Nboye Agumbire:

Ghana

Nboye lives in the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East Region of Ghana. She is a single mother of six children.

Nboye started working with Self Help Africa's partner TRAX around three years ago, recieving training on tree growing and attended field demonstrations organised by the field officer. She wholeheartedly embraced all of the knowledge she had learnt realising it would be the key to a more prosperous life.

Nboye said that she used to have major problems with livestock straying during the dry season in search of food. As a consequence many would get stolen and she would often not see them again. Using the techniques she leant from the field officer Nboye decided to grow leuceana trees.

Nboye no-longer has to worry about losing her livelstock as the leaves provide plenty of food to feed them during the dry season. They also provide a useful source of fuel wood as well as shade during the dry season.

Nboye is now full of joy over her trees and hopes that her friends will imitate what she has done.
